Strategic partnership and leasing the right option for Windross Farm Golf Course

THE CLIENT: WINDROSS FARM GOLF COURSE

Set amongst picturesque panoramas in the south of Auckland supercity is Windross Farm Golf Course, a welcome addition to the city’s golf course offering, as a facility that promises a very special golfing experience.

The new course traverses 60 hectares of pristine farmland with 360 degree views of spectacular tree lined hills and lush green countryside.

Windross Farm has been developed as a unique links-style course that offers a mixture of flat and undulating ground, man-made lakes and strategically placed dramatic bunkers to offer the best of golf and the natural environment.

THE CHALLENGE

Windross Farm Golf Course is a high class facility dedicated to providing the best possible experience for it’s guests and members. For them, this means ensuring the course is in pristine condition and – importantly – has year-round playability.

Grounds staff have a tall task keeping the facility in top shape, so a streamlined equipment selection process, as well as maintenance and servicing schedules help to ensure their time is spent focused on delivering golf course excellence.

THE SOLUTION

Windross Farm Golf Course entered into a strategic partnership with Parkland Products right from the construction phase. “It was important to select a long term partner right from the beginning, so that we were dealing with a supplier who knew the course design and layout and were in the best position to help us in the event we needed it” explained Antonie Els, General Manager at Windross Farm.

Parkland provided the design, supply and installation of a TORO IRRIGATION system, complete with a TORO LYNX control system. In addition, Windross Farm signed a leasing agreement with Parkland for TORO equipment, equipment parts and servicing.

“Partnering with one supplier who can provide a turnkey service makes our operation run much smoother and reduces the amount of time spent talking and negotiating” said Dave Smith, Course Superintendent at Windross Farm.

THE IMPACT

Windross Farm Golf Course has established itself as one of the country’s premium golf course experiences, regularly attracting high profile visitors. They have hosted a range of professional and amateur events; including the 2017 LPGA NZ Tour featuring Wolrd Number 1 at the time – Lydia Ko.

[Parkland Products] offered everything from the bore, to the pump station, right out onto the golf course. They took ownership of the whole deal. They do a good product, customer support is second to none, parts second to none, and the machinery is just so easy to work on” Dave Smith, Course Superintendent.

My proposal to courses is to go for the lease option. Every time the machines get turned over we get the newest piece of equipment available, a benefit available to us because of the lease. It’s been a seamless, effortless experience for us” Antonie Els, General Manager.
